Baandhani groups are collectives of poor men and women from informal settlements in Mahrashtrian cities.  These groups have chosen to work together under the banner of Baandhani and to work with Shelter Associates to:

• Create and maintain city profile's of Pune, Sangli & Miraj which contain up-to-date information on all slums in those urban areas
• Facilitate and support community participation in housing and sanitation projects for the poor
• Facilitate and support the formation of livelihood initiatives, savings and credit groups which work for poor women
