DRC has been providing assistance to displaced and host communities and in general to conflict-affected populations in the Central African Republic (CAR) since August 2008, in the departments of Ouham, Ouham Pendé and Bamingui Bangoran, which are in conflict-affected areas with significant numbers of IDPs. DRC’s sectors of assistance in CAR include protection, livelihoods and WASH.
Field offices in the North, 2 sub offices and the capital office (Bangui) and a complex funding portfolio. The program strategy for 2013 covers the sectors of Protection, including Child Protection, Legal aid and Emergency Education, IDP profiling and protection monitoring as well as Food Security, Early Recovery and small scale infrastructure including WASH. Interventions are currently located in three Prefectures: Ouham, Ouham Pendé and Bamingui-Bangoran.
