About 150,000 people live in Buea (including Muea; Bomaka; Tole; Miles 17, 16, 15, 14; Bova; and surrounding villages). The town is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Cameroon and has a population of 90,088 (at the 2005 Census). It has been the capiatal in the colonial time and later on also the capital of Southern Cameroon.
