The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization aimed at promoting international co-operation.  It has 193 member states who finance it's activities. The UN has five principal organs: the General Assembly; the Security Council; the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC); the Secretariat and the International Court of Justice. The UN also has 31 member agencies specializing in various areas of aid such as the World Bank Group, UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, IAEA, ICAO, IFAD, the ILO, IMO, the IMF, ITU, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNWTO, UPU, WBG, the WFP, the WHO,WIPO, WMO and others.
