Project supporting the fight against digital gap (ADEN) has been set up in 11 
French, English, and Portuguese sub-Saharan African-speaking countries from by the 
International Cooperation of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its goals are to 
democratise Internet access, train people in the use of new technology, and encourage 
the African production of content.

The main ADEN centres are Bambari “Ouaka,” Bangassou, Berberati, Bouar, and Mbaiki “Wambangana.

Emmaus International is one out of 310 socially aiding groups in 36 lande. The one in Denmark is in Tylstryp (Nordjylland) at a farm, where sale of secondhand furniture and other things are sold. The profits go to water supply projecs in northern Kneya. In addition profits also go to support local partners in other countries after natural disasters.

Grundfos employees collect fund through internal activities and provide access to clean water in some of the poorest areas in world. We do this through partnerships with local NGOs, people and businesses. 

 

The International Growth Centre (IGC) aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research.

Focusing on Ikombe & Katangi Divisions in Yatta District, MCDA initially highlighted health, education, food security and youth unemployment. MCDA has now expanded to a lead agency in these sectors and now includes WASH in their work. They have proven highly effective in training community members in sanitation, water harvesting and agricultural techniques.

Periamma supports projects related to education in 4 countries: Kenya, Uganda, Thailand and India. Thanks to private sponsors and foundations we financially support 4,500 students in 16 schools in the 4 countries.

Has created 350 jobs and serves informal Settlements with 326 toilets. Each customer is welcomed by a Fresh Life Operator, who provides toilet paper, sawdust, soap and water for hand-washing. Each clean toilet also contains a waste bin, sanitary bin for women, a mirror, coat hook, and a solar lantern for early morning and nighttime usage.

Umande works with communities to design and complete the construction of, thus far 52, bio-sanitation model units (bio-centres).  We are keen to re-design, up-grade and scale up these multi-purpose service centres.  The units generate biogas for cooking; recycle waste water, reduce carbon emissions and support urban agro-forestry through utilization of bio-digested waste residues.

Wind for Prosperity will create a world of new opportunities by accelerating access to clean water, healthcare, irrigation, education, communications infrastructure, and other social and economic benefits. It is different to most other corporate initiatives to alleviate poverty. The concept is commercially based and is more scalable and sustainable than efforts purely reliant on philanthropy and donations. It is business as a force for good.

They are open from 7 to 17. Street children can get a meal and some informal education. If they have been attending the center regularly for a year; they may be given a scholarship. There is also a washroom, basketball court and pleasant garden surroundings.

Agahozo-Shalom youth village is home to app. 500 young people ages 14-21. The youths are orphans or vulnerable people from the entire country. They live in 32 family houses - 8 houses in each grade (5 female and 3 male) where 16 students and a family mother live together for four years. They are given education, proficiencies on their farm and are taught to give back to their communities.

Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze is a five year activity of USAID that started in June 2017. Implemented by CNFA. Through grants and technical support it aims to sustainably increase smallholder farmers’ income, improve the nutritional status of Rwandan women and children, and increase the resilience of the agriculture and food systems to the changing climate. 

Fidesco International is a Chatolic Emmanuel organization which matches proffessional volunteers with underprivileged groups in refugee camps, youth centers, orphanages, schools etc.

In Kigali the Fidesco center is named after the founders Cyprien and Daphrose Rugamba, who were killed during the genocide. Children at i Fidesco are offered a place to saty for up to 6 months. They can attends school and get uniforms and food while the staff looks for a more permanent solution with parents or relatives.

Global Communities works in 23 districts, mobilizing more than 3,000 community-based volunteers and assisting more than 95,000 Rwandan households with activities to improve food production, health and economic status, literacy, childhood development and access to finance to support rural livelihoods and build resiliency.

My Right is an umbrella organization forming partnerships between Swedish disability organisations and their equivalents in MyRight’s partner countries Bolivia, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Tanzania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nepal and Sri Lanka. MyRight supports projects and programmes that help to make the disability organisations in the partner countries stronger, more democratic and able to participate in social development. Establishing strong organisations provides persons with disabilities with greater opportunities to be their own agents for change and to represent their members.

Plan International works in 71 countries to advance children’s rights and equality for girls though child sponsorship and grassroots community work 

Provides expert advisory services to local organisations within  Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. SNV's core business is the strengthening of the capacities of local organisations in the private and public sectors.

The centre is run by Evode Usbyamahoro , who grew up a street child himself, and his wife Rebecca Ubaka U Rwanda is run by a loving couple, that have taken in streetchildren and help them, by providing a safe place to sleep, play and learn. They also try to get scholarships but rely on private donations and sponsorships.

This is a home for street children. The children live with Rebecca and Evode, who acts as foster parents. There are about 35 former street children living there however many have found sponsorships and attend different schools or universitites. They are presently building a bigger center on the outskirts of Nyamirambo.

RW builds new health centers and ensures that existing facilities in Rwanda have the fundamental components they need to function, including fully stocked pharmacies and consistent supplies of electricity and running water. 

  • RwandaNOW has established the Rwanda Wildlife Sanctuary & Science Education Center (RwandaSEC) as a venue for Rwandese to learn about their environment and to participate in protecting the environment in a sustainable manner. 
  • RwandaNOW has been serving as a rescue/rehabilitation center for street animals. We are bringing these animals back to good health and then finding forever homes for them.
  • RwandaNOW is increasing the capacity of the local veterinary profession by training Veterinary Technicians and providing high quality Veterinary care to the public.

Fidesco International is a Chatolic Emmanuel organization which matches proffessional volunteers with underprivileged groups in refugee camps, youth centers, orphanages, schools etc.

In Kigali the Fidesco center is named after the founders Cyprien and Daphrose Rugamba, who were killed during the genocide. Children at i Fidesco are offered a place to saty for up to 6 months. They can attends school and get uniforms and food while the staff looks for a more permanent solution with parents or relatives.

Global Communities is a close partner of USAID. They implement various programmes with various target groups. Most are however rural and poor and are helped with cooperatives and farming but there is also focus on children with HIV/AIDs.

Health Poverty Action is currently working with Rwandan communities to provide safe water and sanitation facilities, tackle HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, to end violence against women and to reduce poverty directly through income generation.

It seems to be an umbrella organization for artisan cooperatives in Rwanda. They sell products on their website and recive donations, which goes towards teaching the women in the cooperatives skills such as enterpreneurship and English. 

Examines best practice and works with local partners to advance these. In Kigali and Muhanga this means assisting app. 600 micro- and small-sized enterprise owners (entrepreneurs) with tools to helps them grow and employ more people.

They also worked on an evaluation of the impact of agronomy trainings on small-holder productivity and adoption of best agronomic practices and have sevaral other studiees withing different fields of delvelopment.

 

I accessed the library as a guest but apparently one needs an annual membership which is 10.000 Rwf for adults and 5.000 for kids. 

At the library you can borrow books, use their computers or wi-fi, study in quiet comfortable settings or if you are a kid there is learning lessons with the one laptop per child program in the morning and first come first served free use of the laptops in the afternoon (is my impression).

Helps people to help themselves in a varity of ways within agriculture, education, water and emergency assistance. In 2013 they had 355 overseas projects in 40 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. They also do fundraising projects in Grmany.
